This past New Year’s Eve, Ryder was celebrating his 5th birthday with his family up in Mendocino on the beach. As they were crossing the bridge, Ryder noticed a bottle down in a creek. He admitted he thought it could be from pirates or even a treasure map, but once the family opened the bottle, they found a letter inside.
The letter was from a 10-year-old 5th grader named Chris. He wrote that he lived right here in Sacramento, and included his phone number, asking for a call from whoever found the bottle to let him know where it washed up. The kicker though – the letter was from 1988. September 5th, 1988.
The number is now disconnected, but the family is working with a small team to find more details on where Chris might be today. The last registered name they could find was from 1981, but the Aunt, who works in Washington D.C. at the Library of Congress, found someone else in 1988 who owned the phone number but has since passed away.
Do you know who Chris might be?
